A 2.1 starting out in good shape that is properly maintained is a good engine and will last for over 200k miles.

Hi Phil, and welcome!

2.1 L boxer engine is the biggest standard engine provided by VW for the T3... if you find a DJ coded engine, it have 112 HP.

Take a look here: http://www.westfaliat3.info/ht.....guide.html

It's a good buying guide for a T3 Westfalia. Smile

It' a small world if you're a Syncro (cit. Steve)

Hi all-

I'm shopping aruond for a syncro westfalia ,and would like to know what issues to look for- are they prone to cracking in any particular spot? rust issues?

do the 2.1L engines hold up well? I do plan on swapping for a suby 2.5L+ down the road, but I'dlike to get a few seasons out of it 1st.

thanks for any info!
